Liam Gallagher (50) hinted towards an Oasis reunion when responding to a fan inquiring into whether the band was going to get back together. The former Oasis frontman was quick to respond, stating that ‘It’s happening’, back in March.
This came as a shock to Noel Gallagher (55), who called on his brother to ‘stop talking on the f***** internet’. When probed about the situation by Radio France, Noel fired back quickly, stating that “he should get his people to call my people”.
Noel was pressed further regarding this statement when starring on a popular podcast, talkSPORT, where he was asked if he was getting the band back together. The Oasis star expressed that he’d like his brother to call him ‘if [he’s] got a plan’, otherwise it was “disingenuous” to string their fans along.
During the interview, Noel opened his heart to a bit of brotherly love, commending Liam for ‘smashing it’ recently.
In true Liam fashion, he released a passive aggressive tweet asking Noel to call him, stating he was “concerned” about his brother and that he didn’t seem himself.
Unfortunately, it seems that the chance of an Oasis reunion is slight. Liam joked about the situation on Twitter a month later, stating that he was ‘disappointed at all the people that were disappointed after my disappointing announcement’.
Oasis broke up in 2009 after a fight ensued between the two brothers. This saw Noel quit and released a statement which read that ‘the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades [had] become intolerable’.
With the return of popular indie bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Blur, it would be the perfect time for a reunion. However, with Liam making such big advances in his solo career, it may be a while until we see the two back in action…
